Corporate Strategy Analyst

Position Summary
Sgsco’s Corporate Strategy and Development team is responsible for crafting and leading key strategic initiatives across the firm. Working in tandem with Sgsco’s Executive Leadership, this team leads identification of opportunities to continue to deliver the maximum value to our clients by serving as a liaison to our core business units, driving product innovation, developing new partnerships, and leading M&A activity. The Corporate Strategy Analyst will work on the following:
  • Work closely with the Manager, Corporate Strategy, Directors and/or VPs throughout the business in diverse corporate strategy and corporate development projects
  • Conduct research and analysis
  • Interpret results and make recommendations for next steps
  • Build qualitative and quantitative research tools to support/execute projects
  • Coordinate outsourcing of research with internal or external providers
  • Develop presentations and models for various scenarios such as M&A, productivity improvements, business process optimization, organization design, investments, etc.
The position will be located in Chicago, Illinois.
 
Candidate requirements:
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills (advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills)
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Strong, results-oriented work ethic; proven ability to focus on learning, outcomes and high-quality work product
  • Demonstrate willingness to take initiative and increase level of autonomy and responsibility with the goal of eventually taking on greater project management roles and potentially client responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree from top tier program with a focus in finance, economics, accounting, business strategy, business administration or marketing
  • Experience working in a corporate environment (internship experience or one year in a work setting)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • This is a regular full-time exempt position, and days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday during regular business hours but may vary based on business requirements.
 
Interview Process
  • The duties of this role will be executed in the style of providing consulting services. Therefore, the interview process will be business case-based. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate problem solving skills through completion of multiple cases during two rounds of interviews.
