Digital Editorial Intern, Taste of Home (Food Writing!)


Internship Program Trusted Media Brands (www.tmbi.com), publisher of Taste of Home, Reader’s Digest, Family Handyman, Birds & Blooms, Reminisce, Country, Country Woman and Farm & Ranch Living, is committed to building the next generation of talent, and a key to our strategy is our internship program. We are seeking high-potential students interested in career-building opportunities in a fast-paced and competitive environment. In turn, we provide interns relevant real-life business experience through short-term projects that support key business initiatives and contribute to our products.  


The Trusted Media brands summer internship program will offer a limited number of paid internships to qualified students. Interns will be paid the state mandated minimum hourly wage. 
  
JOB SUMMARY 
As part of the Taste of Home Editorial team, the editorial intern, Digital, will help support content creation and production for the Taste of Home website, email newsletters and ePubs. With a mix of creativity and detail-orientation, this individual will have abundant ideas, a way with words and basic knowledge of SEO and CMS platforms, such as WordPress.  
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
· Curates and writes copy for editorial packages, such as digital articles, newsletters, social media posts and slideshows.  
· Develops story ideas according to weekly goals. 
· Participates in and contributes to omnichannel brainstorm sessions. 
· Works closely with dynamic edit, analytic, art, photo, web, content management and test kitchen teams. 
· Tackles assignments with daily direction from senior editor. 
· Ensures all project deadlines and goals are met. 
· Keeps a close watch on food and lifestyle trends and tracks the competition. 
· Other duties as assigned. 
  
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 
· Working toward a college degree in English, journalism or related field. 
· Basic knowledge of HTML/markup and SEO preferred.  
· A keen familiarity with, and interest in, the food and food lifestyle space. 
· Ability to openly collaborate, verbally communicate and accept constructive feedback. 
· Experience working with a content database preferred.
