Summary: 
The Grants Officer will be responsible for writing and developing comprehensive grant proposals in support of SPLC’s current and future programmatic priorities. Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Giving, the Grants Officer works to research, develop, and write grant proposals and funding reports to foundations and corporations. She/he will be responsible for solicitations of foundation and corporate grants and gifts, matching gifts, workplace giving and other corporate philanthropic initiatives in support of the SPLC’s needs and priorities. The Grants Officer reports to the Director of Institutional Giving.

Primary Job Functions:
  • Researching and identifying sources of support;
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to generate new proposals and avenues for partnership;
  • Writes, edits and prepares complete and compelling grant proposals and reports for foundation and corporate partners;
  • Stewards a portfolio of foundation and corporate partners;
  • Maintaining strong communication ties with funding partners;
  • Responsible for reaching annual revenue goals;
  • Manage workplace giving campaigns, matching grants, and employee peer-to-peer giving.

Qualifications –
Education and Related Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher;
  • A minimum of five years of successful fundraising experience;
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and editing skills;
  • Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies and techniques related to foundation and corporate fundraising;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods, practices and procedures for obtaining information about funding opportunities
  • Proven ability to develop and build relationships with prospective corporate partners;
  • Experience with CRM databases required, BlackBaud experience strongly preferred;
  • Proficiency in data management;
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook.

  • Must be able to multi-task; strong attention to detail;
  • Good sense of humor and ability to work in a diverse environment;
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally.
