Description:
Naval Medical Research Unit Dayton conducts research on environmental health effects and aerospace medicine, addressing health and performance challenges faced by service members in operational military environments.

The project team will focus on the development of an FDA new drug application protocol for motion sickness. This project will have two phases: a laboratory portion and a field portion. The laboratory portion will collect data on 54 research subjects, while the field portion will collect data on 300 participants. The participant will learn about clinical research applications, and provide the opportunity gain experience as part of a research team investigating pharmaceutical countermeasures for motion sickness.
Appointment Length
This ORISE appointment is for a 12 month period.  Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.
Participant Benefits
Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by NAMRU-D. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

Nature of Appointment
The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.
Qualifications
Undergraduate or BS/BA level research intern.
Intern should understand statistical analysis and have experience collecting biological samples for data processing.
