Quality Control Intern

Summary of Internship
The Quality Control (QC) internship position provides an opportunity for science students who are currently pursuing a Microbiology or Biology degree to get hands on experience working with scientists in a fast-paced Quality Control environment. The QC intern will participate in lab projects and assist in product testing. 

The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August.

Essential Functions
  • Provide support related to product testing
  • Support a variety of laboratory activities and may be assigned to a variety of QC tasks throughout the department
  • Be involved with many aspects of quality control and some quality engineering tasks
  • Learn about quality control through daily activities.
  • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
  • Specific tasks will be tailored to the interns experience level and abilities
  • A QC intern works under the close supervision of laboratory scientists and quality engineers

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of departments in regard to quality testing parameters.
  • Familiarity with microbiological testing; dilutions, streaking for isolation, gram staining
  • Ability to adapt and to learn new procedures and to maintain a scientific and objective approach.
  • Possess intermediate computer skills, preferably with experience in Microsoft word to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.

Qualifications
  • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to a Microbiology or Biology accredited degree
