Multicultural Admissions Counselor - Admissions

POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in Admissions beginning May, 2019. The working title for this assignment is Multicultural Admissions Counselor with an official title in the Student Services Coordinator title series. This is a renewable assignment, contingent on performance and funding. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Also required are a high level of dedication to students, staff and faculty; the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and maintain confidentiality; demonstration of professional judgement and discretion; and a commitment to equity and inclusiveness. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, database software, and analytical programs; experience with recruitment and outreach activities, preferably in higher education; previous experience with data analytics, predictive modeling and student aid leveraging; ability to analyze, make decisions, and solve problems effectively; and experience in leading change and applying process improvements
 
DUTIES:
  • Represent UW-Eau Claire at high school visits, educational fairs, college/career/community events, and other outreach events throughout the region with an emphasis in outreach to diverse student populations. 
  • Present at on and off campus events to high school and transfer students, families and special groups, counselors and college access groups – sharing information on the admission process and opportunities available at UW-Eau Claire.
  • Plan, promote and assist with facilitating campus visits and/or pre-college camps.
  • Lead and/or assist with scholarship review and awarding, application follow up, telecounseling activities, and on-going daily correspondence. 
  • Collaborate with Admissions staff and others across campus to develop and implement recruitment initiatives focused on students of color.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Admissions
  • By definition of this position, persons in this position are considered a campus security authority (CSA) to whom individuals may report certain crimes occurring within UWEC on-campus and off-campus property
 
THE UNIT: The unit of Admissions consists of 20 staff members as is charged with the recruitment of students and processing of all application materials.
