Volunteer Recruitment AmeriCorps VISTA Member
The Corporation for National and Community Service has a placement for a VISTA service member at FosterAdopt Connect in Lenexa, Kansas. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will support the mission of FosterAdopt Connect by increasing the capacity and effectiveness of programs supporting foster children and families through volunteer recruitment, community outreach, fundraising, and marketing activities.
By accepting this position you will be required to become a member of the AmeriCorps VISTA Program; a stipend for this placement will be made by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
VISTA Member Responsibilities:
· Develop a strategy for volunteer recruitment that includes community networking and needs.
o Research other volunteer opportunities in the community.
o Adopt best practices of volunteer recruitment through community networking.
o Develop strategy for recruiting volunteers and develop marketing materials to attract new volunteers.
· Develop and implement training curriculum for FosterAdopt Connect Kansas volunteers.
o Research and design effective training for different level of volunteers.
o Pilot volunteer training curriculum and make adjustments as needed.
o Plan transition by training staff on how to administer new training curriculum.
o Assist with matching new volunteers with agency needs. Work with program managers to identify volunteer needs and match appropriate volunteers to fill these needs.
· Research and develop resources to increase revenue support for FosterAdopt Connect programs through grants and fundraising events.
o Assist with planning and executing fundraising events.
o Write and submit grants.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, advertising, and/or community organizing. Qualified applicants need the ability to work independently and with a team, experience with data entry, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, and knowledge of social media tools. Need access to reliable transportation.
