Billing Specialist

Position Summary:
Performs payroll audits of client accounts to ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements and various accounting-related responsibilities, in accordance with Company guidelines, client needs, and legislative requirements.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plans, performs and evaluates results of on-site audits of client payroll records.
  • Reviews payroll registers, individual earnings records, unemployment tax returns, and various federal and state tax payroll tax returns, including form 1099, form 1096, W-2, W-3, and form 941.
  • Prepares report of auditing findings and meets with clients for reporting of audit results.
  • Interacts with clients to ensure appropriate audit billings, requests for information, payments and fund reporting.
  • Performs general accounting-related duties, including preparing financial statements and performing bank reconciliations.
  • Maintains communications and effective working relationships with management and staff as well as clients, government agencies, unions, participants, attorneys, and consultants.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
  • 2 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.
  • Decisions and impact are limited to decisions and planning within a small workgroup/project team.
  • Work consists of moderately complex procedures and where basic analytic ability is required. Problems are solved by selecting from choices defined in work policies and procedures.
  • Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis. Some independent judgment is necessary to select and apply the most appropriate of available procedures.
  • Applies established technology solutions and makes recommendations for use of technology to improve individual or small work group efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Requires regular contact within the department and periodic contacts with other departments, supplying or seeking information on complex matters that require an extensive knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Requires regular contact with outside agencies, customers and/or the general public, supplying or seeking information on complex matters that requires an extensive knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Problems generally involve the selection of standard procedures, organizing work, and checking results. Answers are usually found by selecting from specific choices defined in standard work policies or procedures.
