Graduate Research Internship

Do you have a passion for Public Relations and applying research and data to real time marketing? Do you want to work with an agency team and clients who are ahead of the curve?  

Golin – Washington, D.C. is looking for a full-time, paid intern (40 hours a week) to assist corporate and public affairs client teams through secondary and primary research. Day-to-day responsibilities and long-term projects will span a variety of industries and account teams, such as: health care, energy and sustainability, consumer and public policy issue areas. Candidates for this position should be prepared to commit at least four months to the program, with the opportunity for extension, based on performance and available account work. 

We are seeking an experienced, creative, independent thinker who has excellent research, analytical and strategic skills, critical thinking and proactive problem solving abilities, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills. Success demands an ability to analyze data, bring new insights, and to collaborate with client teams to develop innovative communications solutions.

This is a fast paced, cooperative environment that will require an individual who can work independently and yet collaboratively with colleagues in multiple markets to handle numerous, simultaneous assignments, who thrives on challenges and who can effectively develop relationships with client-facing teams (and directly with clients, over time). If you enjoy a fast-paced environment and a daily intellectual challenge, this job is for you.


What you’ll do:
  • Analyze industry and target stakeholder research; collaborate with the research team to translate this information into client and actionable insights
  • Conduct secondary research related to industry and stakeholder trends using existing research reports, and off-the-shelf and custom tools
  • Work effectively in a team environment and be able to collaborate with all members of the research team 
  • Assist in the design and implementation of custom research approaches to facilitate strategic planning, concept testing and program evaluation
  • Review test links for custom surveys
  • Update necessary documents required for setting up primary research projects (i.e. questionnaires, moderator guides)
  • Assist in synthesizing primary quantitative/qualitative analysis into insights and recommendations
  • Review data analyses and/or reports for data accuracy and general proofreading
  • Create data reports in PowerPoint or other presentation platforms

Qualifications

 
What you have:
  • A degree, in a related major such as political science, sociology, psychology, public policy, public health, marketing, computer science or mathematics 
  • Superior analytical, written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong working proficiency with MS Office (specifically MS PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Ability to translate data into insightful and compelling stories and recommendations for clients
  • Self-motivated, analytical individual with an attention to detail who thrives in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, decision-making and problem solving abilities
  • Experience working with surveys preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with data packages such as SPSS is a plus
  • Experience in media, communications, PR, public affairs, marketing or market research or a related field is a plus
