Research/Legal Assistantship for Recent Graduate

The position is geared towards a recent graduate of undergraduate school who is looking to take a year or two off before going to law school or graduate school. It is an internship (30 hours/week) structured as a tutorial, meaning the Research/Legal Assistant will be introduced to the US immigration system - specifically the humanitarian track (asylum, temporary protected status, deferred enforced departure (DED), relief through the Violence Against Women Act, humanitarian parole, "U", "T", and "S" visas) and other areas of immigration law - by way of country conditions research and occasional preparation of brief write-ups about those specific areas of law as well as work on associated application forms and petitions. Planned start date in early September 2020, immediately after Labor Day Weekend. The position will start at a rate of $14.00/hr and subject to review for an increase after one month. One must have access to a computer and secure internet for remote work, if and when necessary, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
