NH DHHS Watch Me Grow Assistant VISTA

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) is the largest agency in NH state government, responsible for the health, safety and well-being of NH’s citizens, including those facing poverty. DHHS provides services for individuals, children, families and seniors and administers programs and services such as mental health, developmental disability, family assistance, substance abuse, public health and developmental screening. Watch Me Grow, NH’s developmental screening, referral and parent information system, is jointly administered by the Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Head Start Collaboration Office and Bureau of Community and Family Support; Public Health Maternal and Child Health Section, and Bureau of Behavioral Health. Work with other passionate professionals concerned about young children and families, with room to grow and learn about this important field of study; Review/modify communication materials to improve quality, clarity and messaging; Contribute to website and database development; Manage Facebook page; Support sites in network building, outreach and public education; Prepare for meetings, record minutes, compile evaluation results, make recommendations for improvements; Review screening and site reports, recommend system improvements; Oversee/track online access to developmental screening tools; Work on a sustainable training and technical assistance (TA) plan for new and existing sites and partners; Prepare materials for and conduct training/TA; Respond to site and partner requests; Update the budget to include projected expenses and revenue sources; Identify potential funding/support; assist with grant applications; Attend/represent WMG at state meetings; Other duties as assigned.

The Families in Transition (FIT) VISTA Program is focused on improving the quality of life for the most disadvantaged members of New Hampshire communities. Our efforts are led by a remarkable team of dedicated AmeriCorps VISTA members from all over the country. Our capacity building VISTAs are strategically placed with selected host sites that provide critical services, training and empowerment programs aimed at lifting residents up and out of the chains of poverty. As a VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America), you will work for a minimum of one year to build programs, create change, and fight poverty in New Hampshire communities.
