Manager Trainee

Position Description
The Manager Trainee is responsible for working directly with the division manager learning techniques, rules and safety requirements while representing Omaha Track and all customers.  This is a full-time position where you will rotate training in different locations. Training will be approximately 6-12 months per location and you will be learning all facets of the business.
Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify customer’s railroad service requirements, schedules, and ensures deadline commitments are met.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs all railroad projects with Operations Manager and Track Foreman.
  • Works directly with customers, analyzing problems, formulates and proposes logical, objective solutions.
  • Oversees the management of a team of Maintenance-of-way, Switch Person, Locomotive Engineers, Mechanics, and Office Administrator.
  • Works closely with HR department to perform all hiring/firing and all major HR administration as directed by Omaha for personnel.
  • Reviews daily TRACK cards, and approves timesheets and expenses for assigned employees.
  • Complies with all company and federal safety rules, policies, procedures, and wears required safety equipment.
  • Conducts daily, weekly safety meetings, job briefings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Able to change easily from one task to another of a different nature and deal with competing demands.
  • Able to pass pre-hire tests for illegal drugs and random post-hire test for drugs and alcohol.
  • Able to wear required safety gear.
  • Able to work overtime, on-call, and alternate shift that may include weeknights, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme weather.
