With over 150 years in the industry, The Watkins Company continues to expand in the gourmet food arena. From our world famous Vanilla Extract, to our unique Cinnamon and Black Pepper, The Watkins Company has expanded its product lines to include Extracts, Spices, Dry Seasoning Mixes and Food Coloring.
 
The Watkins Company has an opening for a Full Time, Human Resources and Payroll Representative, located in our Winona, MN location. The duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Maintains the Watkins Co. payroll system by entering and tracking all changes including, but not limited to, new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, demotions, special pay requests, benefit changes, pay changes, tax status, new job titles, etc.
  • Verifies completion of timekeeping records and uploads information to process bi-weekly payroll, processes involuntary deductions such as garnishments and levies, and reviews and submits bi-weekly payroll files for all employees.
  • Provides finance with appropriate biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and general ledger reports, as well as, information and reports for payroll and benefits audits as requested.
  • Maintains knowledge and company compliance with federal and state regulations concerning benefits administration, payroll processing, and tax laws.
  • Administers employee benefit programs to include answering employee questions regarding benefit programs, record and system maintenance, employee enrollment, compliance ACA reporting procedures, and COBRA administration.
  • Performs new coworker orientation and employee onboarding and other various human resources tasks.
Our ideal candidate will have at minimum:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related degree.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in payroll, benefits, and/or human resources.
  • Demonstrate intermediate (or higher) proficiency in Microsoft Office; previous HR/payroll system experience preferred.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Be highly motivated, self-directed, and customer service oriented.
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and accuracy, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Have the ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
