Programmer and Data Analyst for Computational Biology Lab

The Haim laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at The University of Iowa seeks to recruit highly motivated students from the Department of Computer Science or The College of Engineering as Research Assistants for an exciting project. The position is intended for Juniors, first-year Master’s students or highly-experienced Sophomores. Work involves development and testing of computational tools to predict the spread of viruses in the population. These tools are then applied to improve design of vaccines. Good working knowledge of Python and excellent debugging skills are required. The student is assigned a project and receives authorship on publications that result from the work. The algorithms and software generated through this work could also result in a senior design project.
