About the Center for Autonomic Medicine in Pediatrics and the Division of Neonatology

The Center for Autonomic Medicine in Pediatrics (CAMP) at Lurie Children’s Hospital is the world’s first center dedicated to the treatment and study of diseases affecting children’s autonomic nervous systems. In keeping with the mission of Lurie Children’s, CAMP integrates the expertise of specialists from across the hospital to thoroughly evaluate patients and develop treatment plans that are specific to each child’s unique needs. CAMP’s multidisciplinary team of physician-scientists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and researchers conducts groundbreaking collaborative research about the function and maturation of the autonomic nervous system, with a vision to improve care and treatment options for patients. Read more about CAMP here.

The Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is comprised of 35 fulltime faculty who are responsible for clinical care, clinical research, and trainee education in 2 large closed NICUs in Prentice Women’s Hospital and Lurie Children’s Hospital that are adjacent to one another on the campus of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in downtown Chicago. The quality and size of this unique collaborative NICU environment make it a leading center for research into the perinatal origins of disease.

CAMP and Neonatology are working collaboratively to improve our understanding of the nervous, cardiac, and respiratory system in premature babies. Together we hope to improve care and treatment of these fragile infants, optimizing outcome for these patients and their families.
