Music Teacher

K-12 Music Teacher:
Scobey Schools is looking for a K-12 Music Teacher for the 2019-2020 School Year. Teacher is responsible for the K-12 Choir and 5-12 Band programs. We have a well-established program with a large well stocked band/choir room which includes a Kawai grand piano, sound shells, new choral risers, and a projector. Student participation in the Band and Choir programs is close to 50% grades 7-12 and K-6 has 100% participation in choir and 75% in 5-6 Band. Current K-12 enrollment is 285.
Salary information:
This is a 1.0 FTE position. Salary is DOE. Base salary is $35,745.47 for the 2019-2020 school year. We are a 5-day school week with 187 day teaching contract (180 instruction days and 7 PIR days). Full health insurance, free lunch and free access to all activities, and wide selection of technology (iPads, Chromebooks, computer labs) included.
Must have or be able to obtain a K-12 Music Education Teaching Certificate for the State of Montana.
Extracurricular opportunities include Swing Choir Advisor, Stage Band Advisor, Pep Band advisor for the Basketball season and Class Advisor. Coaching opportunities are also available.

Our community is very supportive of the arts. Scobey’s community symphony, The Prairie Symphonette, practices twice weekly and puts on two concerts a year. The Dirty Shame Show, a variety show held the last weekend in June, has been in operation since 1967. Scobey is home to the Jack Reiner Big Band, which plays regional events and benefits. Scobey is 146 miles from Regina, SK. There are numerous hunting and fishing opportunities for the outdoorsman. The community has a movie theater and newer community swimming pool.
