Internship: Electricity System Analyst

The candidate will support analysis of increased penetration of renewable energy on the nation’s power grid in NREL's Strategic Energy Analysis Center. The successful candidate will have strong research and writing skills as well as experience compiling and manipulating large data sets for analysis. 
The intern will work with NREL staff to model the evolution of the power grid. The core of the intern’s work will be developing and exercising the ReEDS and PLEXOS software packages
Some programming knowledge is necessary but some on-the-job learning is also expected.

Requirements:
  • Must be enrolled in a degree earning program or have graduated from one in the past several months
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD level student with background in Renewable Energy or related field
  • Background using PLEXOS software, GAMS, programming languages like R/Python, and exposure to Linux based systems
