Food Initiative and Service Manager

The Food Initiative and Service Manager is a member of the Operations Team. This position is responsible for overseeing all food service at Mundo Verde; specifically breakfast, midday snack, lunch, and after school snack. In addition to overseeing the ordering, delivery, service, and meal counts for these meals, the Food Initiative and Service Manager position is involved in improving Mundo Verde’s sustainability practices as they relate to food, sourcing higher quality food , and preparing recipes. There are also opportunities to be involved in training staff members around healthy eating and integrating education about food into the classroom as well as developing and implementing curriculum around food. The Manager supervises a team of six food service professionals, including a full time chef. The team will grow as our second campus launches and grows to scale.As a supervisor, this position is expected to evaluate supervisee progress, growth and performance using Mundo Verde's evaluation process and participate in this process with their supervisor.   • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy of compliance reporting
  • Proven ability to work both as a member of a team, and self motivated to design and improve a growing program
Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. A food handler certification or greater, or the ability to obtain one, is required. Management or supervisory role in School Food/Food related setting strongly preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. Urban teaching experience preferred.
