Brand Marketing Communications Intern (Summer 2019)

mHUB, a rapidly growing innovation hub for physical product development and manufacturing, is looking for a detail-oriented intern with strong communications and organizational skills to support our marketing team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the startup world and join Chicago’s bustling maker community. mHUB is filled with passionate innovators working together in a shared space to fuel the future of product innovation and manufacturing. 

The selected intern will be fully immersed in mHUB’s culture of innovation, attending cutting-edge events and discussing the latest trends in physical product development and manufacturing with mHUB’s industry leaders, serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, politicians, and trend-setters – all of whom support mHUB's mission to ensure Chicago’s legacy remains that of a beacon to a region that builds products and also the future.

mHUB is located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant entrepreneurial Tech Triangle. We’re just blocks from businesses like Lightbank, Groupon, and Uptake and also a short distance from Goose Island. mHUB’s new home has its own parking lot, is minutes away from the Kennedy Expressway, and also easily accessible via public transportation. It is two blocks from the CTA Chicago Blue Line stop as well as a bus stop. In addition, the River West neighborhood is well known for being pedestrian and bike friendly. mHUB is an ideal workplace for energetic, entrepreneurial-minded students looking to immerse themselves in Chicago’s startup culture.

Responsibilities:
  • Support mHUB’s social media strategy
  • Support the development and execution of mHUB’s external and internal newsletters
  • Track and report on marketing metrics including website traffic, press coverage, social media activity, and email list growth
  • Support promotion of mHUB events and workshops
  • Support development and updates to mHUB presentations and basic collateral

Qualifications 
The ideal candidate should be working towards a bachelor’s degree. An enthusiastic interest in product design/development and entrepreneurship is a requirement. Professional experience with social media, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets are preferred. Candidate should be either a marketing or communications major.
