Internship - USDOJ Public Affairs - Multiple Openings for Fall

The Office of Public Affairs offers internships that provide undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to work in a fast-paced government communications office. As the principal point of contact for the Department of Justice with the news media, the office is responsible for ensuring that the public is informed about the department’s activities, and the priorities and policies of the Attorney General with regard to law enforcement and legal affairs.
The Office of Public Affairs offers the following internship tracks:
  • Media Affairs Internship: The media affairs intern will assist press officers with telephone calls from national news media, gather news clips, assist with interviews and press conferences, edit and issue news releases on a variety of topics, as well as other duties as assigned. Read more about qualifications, requirements and how to apply. 



  • Multimedia Internship: The multimedia intern will work with the Multimedia staff to assist with production, writing, shooting, and editing multi-platform multimedia products including photos, videos, podcasts and graphics, as well as other duties as assigned. Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, AVID, or other editing software is preferred. Read more about qualifications, requirements and how to apply.

  • Management and Operations Internship: The management and administration intern will assist with administrative, analytical and project management tasks that support the office’s programs. Assignments may include research, analysis, coordination of briefing books, report preparation, meeting and conference planning, letter writing, acquisitions, travel, financial management records management, and facilities management programs, among other tasks. Read more about qualifications, requirements, and how to apply. 


Deadlines

Spring Program  (internships run the second Monday after New Year’s Day through the Friday before Memorial Day)
  • Applications are accepted until October 1st.
  • Selected applicants must submit a completed security application package by November 15.
Summer Program (internships run the first Monday after Memorial Day through the second to last Friday in August)
  • Applications are accepted until February 1st.
  • Selected applicants must submit a completed security application package by April 15.
Fall Program (internships run the first Monday after Labor Day through December 15)
  • Applications are accepted until June 1st.
  • Selected applicants must submit a completed security application package by July 15.
