PurchasingAdministrator/Buyer

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.

SDL is seeking a highly skilled and experienced buyer to join our rapidly growing organization. This position is responsible for supporting SDL’s Purchasing Department through the effective procurement of a wide variety of materials, supplies, equipment, and services from domestic and global sources while ensuring quality, delivery, and specification requirements are met. This position will coordinate closely with other buyers, accounting, contracts, property, and quality assurance and will report to the Purchasing Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
·  Create purchase orders and maintain relationships with suppliers to fulfill purchasing needs
·  Source and negotiate pricing, terms, and cost reduction activities with suppliers
·  Review purchase requests for accuracy
·  Initiate and evaluate quotes, bids, sole source justifications, and price/cost analysis
·  Document, manage, and monitor orders until completion of order including delivery, invoice processing, and payment
·  Work cross functionally with multiple departments and disciplines
·  Participate in internal GIDEP and SBA procedures
·  Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
.  Ten or more years of experience in procurement
·  Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
·  Well-developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), web browsers, and database packages
·  Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
·  Sound fiscal and time management skills, attention to detail, and priority management to meet conflicting deadlines
·  Must be a US citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
·  Bachelor’s Degree in related field
·  Strong working knowledge of sourcing and purchasing techniques in the federal defense & aerospace market
·  Familiar with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR), agency supplements, or Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)
·  Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or related professional credentials
·  Experience with Federal Certified Purchasing System Requirements (CPSR) audits
·  Experience with ISO 9001 standard as they relate to purchasing functions
·  Experience with international transactions
·  Experience drafting and/or modifying relevant policies and procedures
·  Knowledge of and experience in a sole source business environment
·  Exceptional organizational skills, decision-making skills, ability to meet deadlines, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to problem solve with good business ethics
