Semiconductor Testing and Characterization Engineer

SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The successful candidate will work primarily on characterizing materials and devices for advanced semiconductor infrared sensors and detectors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will specifically:
  • Implement optical and electronic testing procedures for semiconductor materials and devices
  • Characterize infrared detecting materials and devices including heterostructures, colloidal quantum dots and focal plane arrays
  • Use standard/specialized semiconductor testing tools and collect and analyze electrical/optical infrared device data
  • Assist in the writing of R&D-level proposals and grant applications for semiconductor materials and device technology advancements
  • Write technical reports to funding agencies and customers
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair test equipment

REQUIRED SKILLS:
·        Knowledge of semiconductor material and device characterization using electrical and optical tools
  • General laboratory and cleanroom practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organization skills with an attention to detail, and excellent documentation capability
  • Computer skills including MS Office, Python, LabView, SQL AutoCAD and multiphysics softwares a plus

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant science or engineering discipline
  • At least one year of experience in tesing and characterizing semiconductor materials and devices
  • Semiconductor test equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repair experience preferred
