POSITION SUMMARY:
Ensures claims/bills are produced according to payor and regulatory requirements to assure remittance at first pass.
Business goals are:
1. Improve quality of bills produced prior to formal bill submission.
2. Reduce DSO
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Process primary and secondary commercial insurance claims (eg. long term insurance, motor vehicle, workmans comp).
2. Liaise with center staff to ensure verifications, authorizations, and docuementation requirements meet payor requirements for claim submission.
3. Prepare final bill for submission (eg. UB92 and include supporting documentation using prescribed format.
4. Follow up on any/all unpaid claims.
5. Maintains records, files and logs of claim status or other billing information as directed.
6. Interacts with third party payors as required to obtain payment for pending claims.
7. Prepare adjustments/corrections to commercial bills.
8. Refers problems or rejected claims to specialist, claims resolution.
9. Assure accuracy of demographic information in the billing system to ensure accurate billing and prompt payment.
10. Performs other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Associates Degree or 2 or more years experience in accounting, billing or collections.
2. Healthcare work experience preferred.
3. Enjoys working in high volume work environment.
4. This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
5. Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy. TSTs will be administered at the work site if required.
