Marketing Intern

Objective
The objective of the internship is to provide the student with experience in customer relations, marketing, and management of marketing projects. At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have increased their knowledge of sales promotion.
Description of Internship
Throughout the term, the student will have specific elements of marketing and promotion: public relations, direct marketing, and customer relationship management.
Scope
·        Develop/maintain promotional calendar with specific dates and individual responsibilities.
·        Visit businesses that we already have a relationship with for personal contact and brochure restock.
·        Assist in the development of new business contacts for outreach and brochure placement.
·        Maintain stocks of brochures in the office
·        Reach out to and develop new relationships with libraries/banks/etc. for display opportunities.
·        Update displays with current events and photos.
·        Outreach for speaking opportunities to local organizations.
·        Help with social media presence.
·        Give weekly progress reports of brochure, display, speaking opportunities.
Hours and place of work
The intern’s work hours and work place are flexible. The intern is expected to work 20 hours per week and keep accurate record of the hours worked. Initially, the intern needs to volunteer between 8am and 1pm to coordinate with the administrative assistant. Once the intern is more knowledgeable about the work, the intern will be driving to businesses throughout the area for personal contacts and brochure restocks.
Responsibility of Intern
The intern is expected to complete all assigned tasks on time unless previously agreed upon by Bur Oak Land Trust staff. The intern is also expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner in regard to business communication and presentation.
During the course of the internship, the intern may also be exposed to confidential store information as needed to complete a task. The intern is required to keep all store information confidential and the information is not to be shared with anyone other than the management of the office. It is assumed that by accepting the internship, the student agrees to these responsibilities. Failure to adhere to these responsibilities will result in termination of the internship and notification sent to the university.
Responsibility of Office Management
Bur Oak Land Trust will provide the resources and direction needed to complete any assigned task on a timely basis. In addition, the office will provide both a midterm and final performance evaluation of the intern.
