Software QA Engineering Internship /Co-Op (Fall 2019)

The Role:  
Tesla Motors is looking for an exceptionally talented and committed software qa engineer to help re-invent the in-car experience.  The ideal candidate combines excellent quality assurance skills with strong product design sensibilities and a passion for building inspiring, easy-to-use software. You will help to ensure great quality of Tesla’s UI and/or Autopilot software for current and next generation vehicle programs. You will work within the Infotainment and Autopilot SQA teams to manually test new and legacy UI features, help automate testing, implement new tests, and create innovative automated test systems. 
 
Responsibilities:  
  • Identify effective test strategies for a given feature and craft test plans accordingly.  
  • Run manual and automated black/white box tests, and analyze and report results.  
  • Work closely with software and hardware Engineers as well as Designers to identify and fix problems.  
  • Perform functional, stress, and performance tests on multiple levels within the system, including vehicle simulations, prototype components, and cars.  
 
Requirements:  
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.  
  • Previous internship or related experience in a Software QA role.   
  • Experience in defining manual and/or automated white/black box test cases.  
  • Experience in developing test automation software (Ruby, Perl, Python, C/C++, Java) a big plus.  
  • Excited about working on a wide range of different tasks including manual testing on a UI level, automating tests, dealing with prototype hardware, and driving electric cars!  
  • Prior exposure to testing any of the following technologies a plus: wireless systems (3G/4G, WiFi, Bluetooth), USB, graphics/OpenGL, audio systems, power management, location/navigation software, and/or touchscreen devices.  
  • Linux working experience a plusValid US driver’s license.
