Ray Tracing Intern (Fall 2019)
Epic Games Unreal Engine team is looking for a smart, creative Engineering Intern to join them for the fall 2019 semester in Cary, North Carolina! Rendering Programmers play a key and indispensable role in the enhancement and future development of Unreal Engine.
As an intern, you are given challenging projects over the work term, and are provided with a meaningful experience with high expectations for performance. If you want to build something Epic, this is the opportunity for you!
Your days will include:
Supporting ray tracing for the Unreal Engine rendering team, contributing innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of development.
Focusing on:
- Conducting research on light transport with a focus on real-time ray tracing
- Enhancing and maintaining the graphics of Unreal Engine 4
- Working on material and lighting improvements
- Building tools to help aid the artists find performance issues
Qualifications:
- Degree work in CS or related fields: active students and recent grads are encouraged to apply
- Strong C++ skills
- Rendering generalist skills, with a focus on ray tracing
- Examples of projects in graphics or game engine technology a must
- Knowledge and proficient application of 3D math, rendering algorithms, and data structures
- Performance minded development and optimization skills
- Strong communication and follow-through working with others to develop and iterate on features/tools
- Top candidate will have exposure to some graphics APIs and shader languages including DirectX and OpenGL/GLSL: DX12 and DXR experience welcomed
This is a paid internship, running September 3 through December 13. All candidates must be eligible to work 40 hours per week on site in Cary, NC.
