VYDC-Schoolhouse Farm to School & Sustainability AmeriCorps Member

The Vermont Youth Development Corps AmeriCorps (VYDC) program is recruiting AmeriCorps members for the 2019-2020 service year! AmeriCorps is a national service program that creates community service opportunities across the county, and VYDC places AmeriCorps members throughout Vermont to promote hope, justice, and well-being for all Vermont youth and families. The Schoolhouse Learning Center is one of the sites with which VYDC places AmeriCorps members.

The Schoolhouse Learning Center (SH) is a dynamic, diverse educational community committed to nurturing students’ individuality and independence of mind. The VYDC-Schoolhouse Farm to School & Sustainability AmeriCorps Member;
  • plans and implements farm-to-school, civic engagement and environmental stewardship activities for youth ages 2-14, including field trips and classroom activities, collaborating with teachers and community partners
  • supports the hot lunch program & conducts nutritional awareness activities
  • maintains gardens & leads physical activities that engage children in food production and exploring the natural world
  • encourages students’ continued and active participation in their community
  • builds infrastructure to sustain the member-led programs
  • generates materials for SH and farm partners which support member-led programs
  • assists in non-federal fund development for member-led programs.
