VYDC - Basement Teen Center AmeriCorps Member
The Vermont Youth Development Corps AmeriCorps (VYDC) program is recruiting AmeriCorps members for the 2019-2020 service year! AmeriCorps is a national service program that creates community service opportunities across the country, and VYDC places AmeriCorps members throughout Vermont to promote hope, justice, and well-being for all Vermont youth and families. The Basement Teen Center is one of the sites with which VYDC places AmeriCorps members.
The Basement Teen Center is a safe drop-in space for all youth ages 12-18 who are seeking a place to connect with peers, and participate in activities which promote healthy and active lifestyles.
VYDC- Basement Teen Center AmeriCorps Member develops and implements unique programming which supports positive youth development and builds resilience. At the office each morning, the member creates curricula, communicates with the BTC Director, engages in public relations and outreach, seeks non-federal in-kind donations and grants, enhances systems to capture evidence of success, and recruits volunteers. At the BTC in the afternoon, the member implements programming (civic discussions, physical activities, substance use prevention, healthy lifestyles, and nutrition education), makes sure youth have access to healthy food, manages volunteers, and helps youth discover their passions and participate actively in all aspects of the BTC.
