Communications Specialist II

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants for a Communications Specialist II. ITS provides core computing, network services, enterprise systems, and information security resources to the students, faculty, and staff. ITS partners with IT professionals from around campus to provide specialized resources to Iowa State’s academic and business units. The ITS Communications Team works with technology professionals to develop and implement technology-related communications campus wide.

The Communications Specialist II will be responsible for developing a broad array of communications materials including news stories, press releases, brochures, displays, educational publications, logo marks, social media content, and interactive multimedia projects that meet a broad range of faculty, staff, and student needs. This position will assist the Information Technology Services Communications Director with key projects, help manage and implement the department’s communications plan, assist with occasional project management, and work independently to create a range of assigned communications deliverables.

The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people and work within a creative team environment. The candidate will also have excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage web content, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects within specific budgets and timelines.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Demonstrated working knowledge of AP Style
· Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
· Experience with copywriting for advertisements and other promotional items
· Experience with proofreading and copy editing
· Experience with website design and management on either WordPress or Drupal platforms
