System Administrator II

Overview:

We are seeking a full-time System Administrator to provide on-site support a hybrid operation display environment located at a client facility in Washington, DC.  

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test and deploy system enhancements ensuring IT system architecture remains fully operational which is necessary to facilitate the mission of the client's organization while maintaining compliance with appropriate security standards such as FISMA and NIST security plans as laid out in the ATO.
  • Work with customer to develop, and deploy system documentation, including security plans, policies, and guidelines for monitoring of day-to-day operations
  • Act as Lead for all initial IT cybersecurity and physical access control assessments, incident documentation that may be found during daily, weekly, monthly, and annual testing and monitoring
  • Establish, assign, and maintain online account management of the high-performance computing servers to include user authentication and appropriate access levels while maintaining adherence to system cybersecurity policies as per the ATO.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements as identified in the system design. Maintain system and software patches and firmware updates. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as needed.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Work as a member of the client's team and demonstrate unwavering attention to their success across all levels of the organization. Support includes data information collection, synthesis, storage and distribution for the client's organization, system support during response cycles, and act as liaison between all levels of system users.

Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent experience in IT coupled with relevant certifications
  • Five or more years of experience as a System Administrator preferred
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of a range of computer software, networking infrastructure, and hardware systems and related technologies (cybersecurity, networking, VM's, Linux, Windows, etc)
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to proactively engage with all levels of clients and teammates
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and successfully pass Public Trust background checks as required by client for on-site badging
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle swift changes in priorities
