Patient Account Specialist

We are currently searching for a full-time Patient Account Specialist in the Iowa City area to assist patients in completing financial paperwork.
The Patient Account Specialist’s duties include:
- Entering patient financial information accurately into electronic recordkeeping system.
- Ensuring that posting of services is done consistently and accurately.
- Contacting insurance and managed care companies to determine benefits as required.
- Confirming that admitted patients have signed financial agreements and notifies clinical staff of patient financial activity.
- Answering any billing questions patients may have.
- Ensuring that all necessary state reporting data is present and entered.
- Assisting in preparing, reviewing, and mailing monthly financial statements.
- Monitoring and acting on error reports from electronic recordkeeping system to ensure accuracy.
- Administering UAs as needed.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of clerical experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required. Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and solid organizational skills. Experience with insurance, billing and accounting is preferred. The schedule for this position is Monday – Thursday from 11:00a-8:00pm and Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
