Under the direct supervision of the Finance and Accounting Department, the Finance Intern will use organization and finance and accounting skills to assist multiple staff in the Finance and Accounting Departments. This will entail budget reconciliation, audit prep, budget creation, and more.

Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Minimum: 3 months with 15 hours/week during school year; 30-40 hours/week during the summer.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. If interning 20 hours or more weekly for 3+ months, we can provide a $125 metro stipend.
 
Time commitment: Flexible. TBD with candidate.

 Below identifies the essential responsibilities of the position, but is not exclusive:
·        Work with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) Accounting Software, pending skills and approval
·        Prep for annual audit
·        Take part in budget preparation and adherence
·        Reconcile budgets and expenditures
·        Perform administrative duties such as: filing, preparing lists, research and updating information, and assisting in correspondence
·        Use excel and databases extensively
·        Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
·        Enthusiasm for The Salvation Army’s mission and the families we serve, and an open and friendly spirit.
·        Completed or working towards a college degree, preferably in a related field.
·        Computer literate with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
·        Strong written and oral communication skills.
·        Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple detail-oriented projects.
·        Comfortable performing general clerical work including letter writing, filing, faxing, copying, answering phones, responding to emails, etc.
·        Ability to project a professional and positive image of The Salvation Army.
