VYT-MCSD Resource Development VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program that aims to alleviate poverty across the county, and The Vermont Youth Tomorrow AmeriCorps VISTA program (VYT) places VISTA members throughout Vermont to promote hope, justice, and well-being for all Vermont youth and families. The Montpelier Community Services Department is one of the sites with which VYT places VISTA members.

Montpelier’s 3 departmental divisions--Recreation, Parks & Trees, and Senior Activity Center--provide diverse activities and services that serve thousands of community members of all ages. 

The VYT-MCSD Resource Development VISTA enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of the Montpelier Community Services Department (CSD), resulting in better service to more people. VISTA activities include the following capacity building projects:
(1) Universal Child Care Programming: Research feasibility of a universally accessible child care program for the City of Montpelier; conduct outreach to existing child care providers; and develop a plan for implementation.
(2) Parks & Recreation Program Planning: Develop programs for spaces in a renovated rec. center; develop multi-generational programs for all CSD divisions.
(3) Fundraising: Research grant opportunities; support special fundraising events; and expand fundraising efforts.
(4) Volunteers: Continue to develop best practices for volunteer management for all CSD divisions.  

Monthly Housing Subsidy provided. Occasional travel; local bus available. Send a resume, cover letter, and contact information for 3 references.
