Program Manager, Annual Giving

The Program Manager, Annual Giving assists the Director of Development with cultivating and growing annual giving for the Cal Alumni Association. We are seeking candidates with fundraising experience to join a dynamic team responsible for building the base of donors and increasing their level of financial support. The Program Manager will coordinate a year-round, comprehensive cultivation and solicitation program that supports all annual fund programs and efforts, specifically The CAA Fund Society level giving, direct mail solicitations, telemarketing campaigns, donor cultivation, and stewardship events.
 
This position reports to the Director of Development and is located in Berkeley, CA.
 
Responsibilities: 

  • Participates in the development and leads the implementation of fundraising strategies and initiatives to meet or exceed assigned fundraising and net revenue goals.
  • Leads and manages the production of direct mail, telemarketing, and e-solicitation campaigns to acquire, reactivate and retain donors.
  • Manages and evaluates vendors.
  • In collaboration with CAA Marketing department, develop annual giving marketing materials, including brochures, case statements, and other collateral materials.
  • Research and incorporate annual fund “best practices.”
  • Execute complex, multi-channel annual giving communications program.
  • Own all annual giving data processes for direct mail, email, telemarketing.
  • Track and report on CAA’s leadership giving donor society activity and execute acknowledgment outreach.
  • Reports on the progress towards goals and deadlines.
  • Evaluate, analyze and report on the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, appeals, and programs, making and implementing strategic and operational recommendations.
  • Attend and assist in developing and executing Department and CAA events.
  • Manage and report on the annual giving program budget.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager, Donor Relations in support of Development goals.
  • Manages the Development Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three years of direct fundraising experience with knowledge of annual fundraising campaigns.
  • Solid organizational, administrative, and project management skills including the ability to create and implement a program plan, and develop and manage a program budget with net revenue responsibility.
  • Understanding of database management, gift processing, and donor relations.
  • Ability to learn and use CADS (Cal Advancement Data System)
  • Demonstrated success and evidence of ability to plan, execute and measure the impact of appeals and programs.
  • Experience developing fundraising marketing collateral and messaging for campaigns.
  • Experience coordinating and implementing donor attended events is preferred.
  • Ability to write on-brand, engaging content, and ensure brand consistency.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills; able to produce error-free content that aligns with CAA’s brand and editorial standards.
  • Experience with strategic, performance metrics, reporting, and budget planning.
  • Experience managing and leading administrative staff.
  • Ability to manage and evaluate external vendors.
  • Experience delivering high level of customer service.
  • Capacity to deal effectively with a wide range of relationships and situations; ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals with cooperation and collaboration.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and development databases.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must have flexibility in work schedule to permit occasional evening and weekend commitments.
  • Must submit to and pass Consumer and Motor Vehicle reports and FBI/DOJ fingerprint background investigations. Must possess valid CA driver’s license and be able to drive.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications: 

Salary and Benefits: 

This position is classified as an at-will, full-time, Exempt position. Salary range is $52,000-55,000 annualized and is eligible to participate in company-sponsored benefits. CAA offers a competitive benefits package, participation in a 403(b)with company match and generous paid time‐off benefits.
