Postdoctoral Fellow - Aging & Metabolism

Department: Aging & Metabolism - B. Miller


This is a mentored position for postdoctoral training. Incumbents at this level plan, design and conduct research experiments, manage research projects, prepare reports and papers for publication and presentation, contribute to grant writing and are encouraged to write applications for fellowships. Further, the candidate will learn the complexities of a research lab management and participate in various lab management responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
• Ph.D. in biological sciences, physiology, chemistry or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent. 
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research 
• Demonstrates skill in formulating and testing hypotheses 
• Ability to conduct scientific research experiments 
• Skills in the ability to analyze and summarize data and results 
• Writing technical and scientific papers and grants 
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing 
• Experience mentoring students and guiding the work of less senior scientists 
• Experience managing lab research with progressive competency and leadership


Minimum Qualifications
• Wet laboratory experience
• Strong background in aging or metabolic research 
• Comfort with either human and animal models
• Willingness to mentor 
• Willingness to contribute to a team effort
• An interest in some combination of aging, muscle, mitochondria, slowed-aging treatments, metabolism, stable isotopes and proteomics
