2019 Fall Social Media Intern

The Blank Park Zoo is now accepting applications for a 2019 fall social media internship. The internship program is open to candidates, 18 or older, currently enrolled or recently graduated from college, with an interest in social media, communications, and education. It is nonpaid; housing and transportation are the responsibility of the intern.
Interns are required to be here for eight weeks, starting August 29 – December 6, 2019
 
The Social Media Intern will assist BPZ Education staff with the following duties:
- create and post engaging content for social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube
- participate in stakeholder engagement meetings and events
- attend events and activities for “live” posting; tweeting, Instagram stories, etc. as well as collecting digital  content for future use
-organize digital content
- develop goals for social media content, engagement, promotion, and education
-various animal handling duties within the Education Department
 
Requirements:
- College student in good standing, studying communications, marketing, or related field
- Successfully complete a background check
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
- Available to work 15-20 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm, may include some weekends
- Experience with computers and working knowledge of social media platforms
- Photography and videography experience a plus
- Must be comfortable with public speaking
- Must have excellent writing skills
-Must be comfortable with animals of all kinds
-Must be able to independently and take initiative
- Select and execute a project with the help of the Education staff, which will be presented at the completion of the internship.
- Complete BPZ intern courses
