MARKETING DESIGN INTERN

Meld Marketing based in Coralville, Iowa, is seeking a marketing design intern for the Fall 2019 semester. The marketing design intern must be a strong designer who loves to develop and execute engaging visual content for both print and digital channels, including social media and web. This individual must be able to work independently (with oversight) to generate graphics and visuals that align with each client’s brand and social strategy. 

He or she will partner with the creative content team to build visuals which are properly formatted and sized for the associated social channels. As requested, this individual may be asked to provide design support and quality checks on other deliverables, so attention to detail and high-quality standards are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Source and create compelling and creative visual content for social media, websites, and digital advertisements 
  • Properly size and format visual content for different digital platforms
  • Collaborate with graphic and web designers, digital strategists, content specialists, account managers, and senior leadership to partner on other visually-driven deliverables
  • Provide visual quality check support to ensure accuracy and quality of all client and Meld Marketing deliverables
  • Plan, organize, and schedule project efforts in an efficient, productive manner
  • Prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines
  • Execute additional tasks and responsibilities (as assigned) related to both client work and internal projects/efforts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (MUST-HAVES)
College and university juniors, seniors, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.  The student or recent graduate should be pursuing (or have a degree in) graphic design, visual arts, fine arts, or other related field. 

  • Minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Understanding of the different visual requirements and limitations of social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest 
  • Excellent eye for visual detail and understanding of design principles
  • Ability to produce visual deliverables within the client’s established brand guidelines
  • Strong experience working within Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions independently
  • Understanding of message matrices, brand guides, content calendars, and social strategies
  • Ability to strike a strong balance between creativity and substance, ensuring everything Meld Marketing produces is engaging and helps move our clients’ brand efforts forward
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE-TO-HAVES)
  • Experience in Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides, etc.) 
  • Marketing savviness (or an interest in marketing and eagerness to learn) 
  • Previous experience working with image sourcing and adaptation (identification, resizing, preparation) 


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
As part of this internship, the intern will:
  • Learn about marketing agency operations and the agency environment
  • Gain exposure and direct experience with different types of marketing writing, including social media, blogs, and website content
  • Learn more about different client industries
  • Build time management and time reporting skills
  • Increase understanding of different social media platforms and technology tools
  • Learn about different methods of measuring, analyzing, and reporting content metrics


INTERNSHIP DURATION
This internship will be 10 weeks long, based upon academic requirements and the campus schedule.

WORKING HOURS
Depending upon the student’s availability and any campus requirements, the student will be asked to complete between 37.5 hours each week on a recurring schedule. Time off or adjusted work schedules can be arranged in advance with the intern’s manager. Meld’s office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

INTERNSHIP COMPENSATION
This will be a paid temporary internship where the intern will receive on-the-job experience and training completing work for customers that will can be applied to his/her professional resume and skill set. Meld is willing to partner with colleges and universities to complete required paperwork to allow the student to receive appropriate class credit for his/her internship efforts. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work will generally be performed indoors in an office environment. Must maintain a professional appearance and manner. Attire is typically business casual, with occasional professional attire for client meetings or presentations.
