Behavior Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Behavior Specialist, under the supervision of a Behavior Analyst/Therapist, is responsible for providing behavior therapy services within the Education and ICF units in the Community Life Department in accordance with the organization’s Mission and Core Values, utilizing Person-Centered Practices.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Provide behavior therapy services.
·        Conducts functional behavior assessments and functional analyses.
·        Develops, implements, and monitors Behavior Intervention Plans and/or Behavior Support Plans, utilizing evidence-based treatments.
·        Report’s findings of assessments/evaluations to the interdisciplinary team.
·        Provides training to LifeScape employees, outside agencies and parents as needed.
·        Provides leadership and training during the management of maladaptive behaviors.
·        Analyzes and interprets behavioral data on an ongoing basis.
·        Collaborates with the ICF and education interdisciplinary team.
·        Maintains expertise in current research/techniques affecting persons supported, and remains current on legal and ethical issues. Promotes behavior analytic theory and principles.
·        Assists with training staff on person’s programming and completing competency and reliability checks.
·        Participates in Behavior Support Committee as a non-voting member and other committees as requested.
·        Participates in on-call schedule within the ICF, if assigned to the ICF.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field is preferred. If the applicant has not completed a Bachelor’s Degree, the applicant must have an Associate’s Degree in Psychology or related field, or two years of college and be currently enrolled or enrolling in a related Bachelor’s Degree Program. If currently enrolled, the applicant must remain in the related Bachelor’s Degree program. Once the Bachelor’s Degree is achieved, the Behavior Specialist must continue to pursue either a Master’s in ABA and the BCBA credential or the course work to achieve the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). If the applicant has completed a Bachelor’s Degree, they must continue to pursue either of the above-mentioned certifications. NOTE: if at any time the Behavior Specialist is not seeking the required degree and/or certification, they will not be able to continue in the position.
