United Nations Program Internship at Global Foundation for Democracy and Development

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development is opening an Internship program in its New York City office.
 
GFDD is seeking an outstanding individual with data analysis and research skills, with focus in the international policy/development field.
 
The Intern will provide support with international affairs initiatives such as the foundation’s UN programs, the GFDD Global Roundtables and the Global Roundtable Issues Blog. The primary duties of the Intern include gathering and analyzing information in the areas of:
 
Ø International Policy & UN Affairs;
Ø Financing for Development;
Ø Sustainable Development;
Ø Ecological Economics;
Ø Renewable Energy & Materials;
Ø Climate change;
Ø Human Development Index;
Ø Economic and Social Development;
Ø Globalization;
Ø Education.
 

About the position

 
The internship position of Intern is a part-time position (4 days per week) which will take place in the fall and Winter of 2019 .The position has a duration of 3 months in total in New York City working on the UN Affairs Programs (under the supervision of Graciano Gaillard, GFDD UN Programs & Outreach Manager) with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision. The Intern will have his/her own desk space with internet connection during his/her time in New York City at 780 Third Avenue, 19th Floor, New York, NY.

 
 

Duties and Responsibilities

 
The Intern will have the unique opportunity to examine issues of contemporary interest, and explore topics that are part of the GFDD UN Affairs agenda by:

o Attending conferences and side events at the United Nations on issues relevant to the social, economic and democratic development of the Dominican Republic. Reporting on the outcomes of each meeting/event by way of factsheets and reports to the relevant supervisor.
o Supporting the week-long New York Dominican Republic Model United Nations (NYDRMUN), organized in April each year by the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (ANURD, for its acronym in Spanish) and in collaboration with the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) and Global Foundation for Democracy and Development;
o Marketing his/her attendance of these conferences/events on GFDD social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter, as well as through press releases to be uploaded on the GFDD webpage.
o Maintaining the upkeep of the Global Roundtable Issues Blog, an international policy blog site, connected to ongoing UN and international affairs, in Spanish and in English. Researching and drafting the weekly blog connected to International Policy, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and Environmental Protection Issues.
o Marketing the blog through GFDD social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter.
o Collaborating in any of GFDD ongoing projects, when necessary.
o Performing other duties or research assignments as assigned to him by his supervisor or other departments in need of support within the foundation.
