Marketing and Communications Intern

GSNEO believes that an internship is an integral part of the student experience.. An internship should be used to help you identify a career path in marketing and communications, recruitment marketing, or related field; to gain experience and expertise in what you already like to do; to determine the skill level you need to develop to be successful after graduation; and to build your resume with this marketing, communications, and recruitment strategies experience.
To secure and complete an internship, here are the steps you should follow:
  1. Submit a cover letter and resume below. Send portfolio samples to marketing@gsneo.org
  2. You will be contacted to interview with a GSNEO Intern Supervisor.  
To be hired as an intern, a student must be enrolled and majoring in marketing, communications, and recruitment/sales (or related major), earned a 2.50 or higher overall GPA, earned a 2.50 or higher professional GPA, and have completed specialized coursework in marketing and communications or another major appropriate to the internship.  
  1. Complete the Internship application and pass a background check.
  2. Once your application and background check is approved, the Department Director (or internship supervisor) will notify you of the terms of your internship via email. 
Responsibilities may include:
  • Scheduling and conducting interviews with Girl Scouts, adult members and staff 
  • Writing press releases and feature stories for media and GSNEO publications
  • Photography and multi-media content
  • Creating content for the GSNEO Web Site, e-News, Social Media (Facebook, twitter, etc.)
  • Graphic design
  • Proofreading
  • Maintain press clip archive
  • Assist with PR/Marketing plans
  • Analytics/reports
  • Assist with advertising plans and media buying
  • Assist in the development of GSNEO publications (Faces & Places program guide, event programs)
  • Writing TV/Radio scripts
  • Designing and creating print ads and broadcast commercials
  • Creating Press Kits and collateral
  • PR and recruitment event support
  • Administrative duties
