Intelligent Tutoring and Accelerated Learning

This opportunity is with the Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Soldier Center Simulation and Training Technology Center (STTC). More information about CCDC Soldier Center can be found on the following website: https://nsrdec.army.mil/.

The Combat Capabilities Development Command- Soldier Center (CCDC-SC) is offering a Post Doctoral Fellowship opportunity to collaborate with researchers in the Creative and Effective Training Technologies branch. Under the guidance of a mentor, the participant will have the opportunity to conduct research using the Army's Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT) intelligent tutoring software. This learning opportunity will focus on research areas that include, acceleration of learning, intelligent tutoring systems for teams, training effectiveness, and data visualization. Participants will gain experience and knowledge in research design, computer-based learning, adaptive training, and team training. Participants will also have the opportunity to design a research experiment, write scholarly papers, create adaptive tutoring, and enhance their knowledge of the research process.

Appointment Length
This appointment is a twelve month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

Participant Benefits
Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by CCDC Soldier Center. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

  • Training and Travel Allowance

Nature of Appointment
The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

Qualifications
Participant should have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field with a concentration in Cognition, Education, or Computer-Based learning. It is preferred that the participant has experience with intelligent tutoring systems, and adaptive computer-based education.
