RESEARCH ASSOCIATE – Protein Chemistry

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with background in molecular biology and biochemistry for our Research Associate – Drug Discovery position. The candidate will work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment to develop novel biologic therapeutic leads (antibody or protein) for the treatment of cancer.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
·       Assist with routine DNA preparation, mammalian and E.coli cell culture and protein purification.
·       Participate in characterization of produced DNA and protein.
·       Assist in data organization, analysis and presentation.
·       Participate in other arising duties including purchasing, inventory control and lab maintenance.

Requirements and Qualifications:
·       BS or MS degree in Biochemistry, bioengineering or a related biological science with 0-5 years of bench experience.
·       Experience with cell culture and protein purification are highly preferred.
·       Previous experience with various protein characterization and analysis skills, such as PCR, electrophoresis, dialysis, centrifugation, BCA and spectrophotometer are preferred.
·       Knowledge and experience with AKTA system is a plus.
·       Understanding and complying with lab safety rules.
·       Exceptional organizational skills.
·       Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
·       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary team.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
·       The employee regularly works in BSL-2 lab.
·       The employee stands for long periods, walks, bends at neck and waists, twists at neck and waist, uses repetitive hand movement, uses simple and power grasping with both hands, uses fine manipulation of both hands and fingers, and team-lifts and carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds at a height of three feet and carries a distance of up to 30 feet.
·       Sits to enter and retrieve data from personal computers and terminals via keyboards, and is often performed while intermittently sitting up to five hours a day.
·       Frequently operate office/lab equipment requiring repetitive arm/hand movement and/or the coordinated movement of more than one limb simultaneously.
·       Possess specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
·       Exposure to potentially hazardous laboratory chemicals, solvents, microbiological pathogens, odors and fumes.
