Archival and Museum Studies Intern

The archival intern assists with the organization and documentation of the history of the World Food Prize Foundation. The archival intern will help to organize, select, catalog and process materials that will be housed in the physical and electronic archive. The World Food Prize is seeking an organized, energetic, self-starter to help with our Foundation Newspaper Archive. This internship will give direct experience in archival management and database integration. Duties include:
  • Assess the existing collection and help to continue developing a thorough and consistent method in archiving
  • Scan or photograph negatives, prints, and other types of material to preservation standards
  • Create and maintain electronic record of the collection
  • Help identify and assess the archival value of materials;
  • Process the collection, including physical arrangement (sorting, boxing, scanning, labeling);
  • Build on the current inventory and create descriptions of materials;
  • Create database records;
  • Create the collection guides and other basic finding aids;
  • Communicate with other special collection interns and special collection staff; and
  • During World Food Prize week in October, assist staff during events.
