JOB SUMMARY
Performs invasive cardiac, peripheral vascular diagnostic, interventional and electrophysiology procedures using sophisticated imaging, hemodynamic monitoring and recording equipment to assess and treated cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Ability to perform all of the duties of a Cardiac Technologist. Ability to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Possesses a thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-Ray techniques and emergent and routine cardiac care. Utilizes effective cardiac communication skills and knows change process and utilizes conflict resolution. Possesses expert level understanding of pharmacologic options to treat patients. Understands any special protocols for conscious sedation of patients. Ability to work with the growth and development needs of unique client populations including children to geriatrics.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs routine disinfection and sterilization activities on medical instruments, devices and equipment.;Check, test, and maintain cardiology equipment, making minor repairs when necessary, to ensure proper operation.;Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac or peripheral vascular treatments, such as implanting pacemakers or assisting with balloon angioplasties to treat blood vessel blockages.;Monitor patients' comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.;Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of heart and cardiovascular system.;Uses software tools and technologies for documentation management.;Conducts regular room checkout activities, including but not limited to bed cleaning, linen changing, waste disposal and disinfection.;Follows all surgical and invasive procedure protocols (consent documentation, verifications, etc.).;Captures any abnormal heart rhythms which can cause cardiac symptoms.;Maintains the tools and equipment used for sterilization and disinfection, and keeps logs on device maintenance.;
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree in Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent experience is required.
Possesses expert knowledge in cardiovascular technology, including pharmacology and advanced cardiac rhythm management. Possesses a thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-ray techniques, and emergent and routine cardiac care.
Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within 12 months of hire is preferred. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable to position is preferred.
