Events and Outreach Intern - Los Angeles, CA

TITLE: Events and Outreach Intern  

REPORTS TO: Events & Outreach Lead 

LOCATION: Intern will report to both NKLA Pet Adoption Center (1845 Pontius Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90025) and Best Friends Lifesaving Center (15321 Brand Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345), as well as ability to conduct internship remotely.  
  
PURPOSE OF POSITION: 
Best Friends in LA is looking for a qualified Events & Outreach intern to help assist in the execution of small- and large-scale events in Los Angeles. 
Interns should be prepared to join a fast-paced environment and finish the internship having gained broad experience in non-profit event planning and learning about animal welfare.  
  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Assist with keeping updated business records for our partners and accurate statistics about our organization. 
  • Build relationships with local business owners in order to solicit donations and gain support for the organization. 
  • Collaborate with the events team in order to execute tasks efficiently. 
  • Assist staff at large scale Best Friends events and manage 3rd party events with the help of volunteers.  
  • Organize merchandise inventory and other event supplies. 
  • Assist in creating new and fun ways to drive traffic into our lifesaving centers. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Ability to follow timelines, proactively track data and create documents to keep plans organized.  
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to proactively communicate updates, answer questions and resolve issues using the Best Friends voice. 
  • Basic knowledge of O365 office suite, and the ability to learn new software programs and apps such as Excel, Word, and Adobe Illustrator.  
  • Comfortable with speaking to the public about Best Friends and soliciting for donations.   
  • Ability to collaborate with other teams and volunteers to create a positive and productive work environment.  
  • Possess an upbeat attitude and positive outlook on animal welfare. 
 
REQUIREMENTS: 
To be considered for this position you must be currently enrolled in a college/university internship program. You must also have your own laptop in order to complete assignments.

START DATE: 
On or near the first day of the semester, negotiable. 

END DATE: 
On or near the last day of the semester, negotiable. 

HOURS PER WEEK: 
To be determined, dependent upon total number of hours required to complete internship. Preferably 10-15 hours per week.
