2020 Summer Intern - Technology Analyst, US

Positions are available in Austin, TX, and Newport Beach, CA
 
Requirements: 
- Computer Science, Engineering or similar major
- Undergraduate or Masters students with an expected graduation date of Dec 2020 – June 2022
- Minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average, on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent, at an accredited 4-year college or university
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)

Desired candidates should possess the following characteristics:
- Strong programming skills
- Python, Java, or C#
- .Net or Unix
- Strong problem solving skills
- Interest in working in the financial services industry
- Superb interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment

Interns will have the opportunity to explore one of the following career tracks within PIMCO Technology:

Software Development:
Collaborate with a team to build software that solves real problems for our portfolio, client, and business management teams, with the goal of putting working software or data analysis into production for our end users. These projects will be guided by a senior developer and will leverage elements of our internal software development frameworks, open source technologies, machine learning, agile SDLC, big data, and traditional databases.

Technology Projects:
Work closely with an encouraging program manager on PIMCO’s firm wide, multi-functional programs. Primary responsibilities include planning projects, tasks, schedules and resources; communicating schedules, reporting updates, status, major decisions, risks and blockers; and facilitating or building appropriate project documentation.

Technology Operations:
Work on projects aimed at improving application insights, manageability, metrics, data quality, and incident resolution capabilities for our portfolio, client, and business management teams. You’ll leverage internal monitoring tools, machine learning and big data platforms and databases. The position will provide exposure to running large scale production systems as well as an opportunity to work with various technology, analytics, and business teams within PIMCO.

Infrastructure Engineering:
Collaborate in a diverse team environment, using public & cloud technologies to scale PIMCO’s infrastructure. You'll work alongside development and analytics teams to evaluate and implement open source technology for high availability and disaster recovery. PIMCO Infrastructure offers a challenging and meaningful experience working with the best-in-breed network, server platform, cloud computing, and orchestration & automation.
 
Career Development, Training and Mentoring
Every intern begins their summer with a week of training. The PIMCO Fundamentals training program will provide you with the skills, knowledge, and relationships that will prepare you to succeed in your internship. Your informal training will continue throughout the summer at PIMCO – every day in a perpetual learning environment. In addition, you will be teamed with a seasoned professional who offers guidance and mentorship throughout the internship.

Summer Internship Program Details:
-         Starts in early June, 10 weeks in length
-         Week 1 consists of PIMCO Fundamentals training at our Newport Beach headquarters
-         Cross-divisional education, networking & social events
-         Opportunity to participate in PIMCO's Global Month of Volunteering
-         Formal mentorship program
-         Formal reviews/feedback at mid-summer and end-of-program
 
Beyond the Internship:
-         The intention of our summer internship program is to extend full-time offers to successful interns.
-         PIMCO Early Career Development Program is for junior employees at the Analyst, Associate and new MBA levels. The program’s objective is to develop top talent with a focus on career development, mobility and employee engagement.
