Evidence-Based Medicine, Research Internship

The AAOS Clinical Quality & Value (CQV) department is seeking a research intern who will be supporting the development of Evidence-Based Medicine products. The intern will be charged with assisting analysts/managers by evaluating medical abstracts, creating various spreadsheets, organizing literature/data, amongst other duties.  
The Intern will assist CQV staff in the development of clinical practice guidelines and appropriate use criteria to answer hypotheses within various research projects. Use knowledge and skills in epidemiology to categorize peer-reviewed published articles by study design and clinical significance. Extract relevant data from articles. Calculate risk ratios, odds ratios, and mean differences. Apply statistical techniques to extracted data (e.g., statistical significance, meta-analysis). 
Number of Hours/Week: The Academy understands that full-time students are unable to commit to a normal full-time work schedule, thus work schedules will be flexible and constructed based on each intern’s availability; however it is hoped that each intern will average at least 15 hours per week. Interns may work up to 7.5 hours/day Monday-Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM for a total of 37.5hrs/wk. 
Duration: 6-12 months 
Hourly Salary: $12.00-15.00
Location: The AAOS headquarters is located in Rosemont, IL (Higgins and River Rd.). Transportation options, aside from local streets, include the Blue Line Train Rosemont stop and Interstate 90.
