Purchasing Agent

KEY TASKS:
  • Receives and reviews requisition requests for completion and authorized approvals.
  • Prepares purchase orders, obtains quotes and carries out related administrative tasks.
  • Communicates with vendors to negotiate pricing and obtain information related to price, specifications, delivery and sources of supply.  Updates and keeps records on related projects.
  • Arranges and expedites freight for orders.
  • Assists in resolving purchasing or contractual related disputes.  Communicating and working with management until resolution is reached.
  • Researches and assists management in the selection of materials, parts, equipment, and tooling items as needed.  Provides information as needed regarding price comparisons, quality, availability etc.
  • Processes and maintains purchasing records, such as costs, delivery, product quality or performance, inventory and usage.  Maintains purchasing library and related catalogs.
  • Investigate discrepancies between purchase order, receiver and invoice.  Communicating and working with vendor, company management and appropriate department personnel to resolve issues.
  • Manage forklift and vehicle fleet.  Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and tracking of forklift and vehicles.  Will schedule and negotiate with vendors regarding service and parts.  Overall responsibility to ensure forklifts and vehicles are safe and in good operating order and available when needed. 
  • Will provide backup support to other purchasing agents to cover or assist in coverage, scheduling conflicts, etc.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Accuracy, Organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities.
  • General computer knowledge and proficiency with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to all levels of employees as necessary in both verbal and written form.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Must have regular and punctual attendance.
