Intern - Predictive Analytics

JOB TITLE: Predictive Analytics Intern

LOCATION: Topeka, KS
PAY RANGE: $15.00 - $18.00
Scheduled Work Hours: Summer 2020 Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Work in conjunction with Engineers and Data Scientists to analyze data related to distribution system reliability. May utilize skills in data preparation, statistics and predictive modeling. Will assist in developing algorithms and processes to be used in risk-based maintenance practices.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Second, third or fourth year student actively pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or Engineering.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Requires the ability to learn major systems in a timely fashion. The ability to cleanse data from one raw form into a structured form is frequently required. Candidate must possess an intellectual curiosity about their work. Visualizing and communicating data is incredibly important both for technical and non-technical audiences in creative ways using software tools like Microsoft’s Power BI, Tableau, IBM’s Watson, etc. Candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present information to all levels of management and work groups in a concise manner. Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment and build relationships with all customers and work groups through strong client interaction.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Valid driver’s license required.

Working Conditions:
Conditions will vary from office to field environments. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
