Communications and Online Learning Intern
Switchboard is a one-stop resource hub for refugee service providers in the United States. With the support of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), we offer tools and materials, learning opportunities, research, and technical assistance on resettlement-related topics. SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: With oversight from the Switchboard Program Officer/Administration Coordinator, the Communications and Online Learning Intern will support Switchboard in a variety of capacities. He or she will assist with project communications, research initiatives, and support online learning.This position reports to the Switchboard Program Officer/Administration and IT Coordinator.
COMMITMENT: 3 months, 15-20 hours per week
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support project communications including newsletters, social media, and other announcements
- Support Switchboard’s online learning and knowledge management: transcription of external resources, support with testing Switchboard website features
- Research initiatives including research on evidence-based services in support of training materials
- Support administrative tasks as needed
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- The intern will deepen understanding of a wide variety of topics related to refugee service provision and best practices related to planning and implementing data-driven, evidence-based programs.
- The intern will gain professional experience in online communications methods used to disseminate learning (blogging, social media, etc.).
Qualifications
- BA/MA student or recent graduate with experience in communications, journalism, instructional design, or related field
- Very strong written communication skills
PREFERRED:
- Experience with website maintenance (WordPress), social media, or newsletter development
- Interest or background in refugee resettlement, migration, and humanitarian organizations
This is an unpaid internship position. No financial compensation, including compensation for relocation, is available.
